About Secret Heart

Secret Heart depicts a beautiful bronze skinned woman from her nose to her belly button. Her eyes are outside the frame of the image, creating a feeling of mystery. She sits enveloped by a dark reddish brown skirt and her arms are crossed over her bare torso. On the canvas is etched a portion of the Sara Teasdale poem entitled Young Love:

I have a secret in my heart
No ears have ever heard,
And still it sings there day by day
Most like a caged bird.

And when it beats against the bars,
I do not set it free,
For I am happier to know
It only sings for me.
