About Blue Vision
Blue Vision is a miniature oil pastel painting on stretched canvas. The subject is a beautiful blond woman with short curly hair surrounded by blue and purple globes and twinkling white stars. A few weeks before starting the painting, I read an article on how a special series of numbers called Fibonacci numbers appear repeatedly in the natural world. In the series, the next number is the sum of the prior two numbers and starts this way: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, etc. I decided to combine my love of math with my love of art by giving each globe in Blue Vision a Fibonacci number for its radius.
I started painting Blue Vision in October 2006 and completed it in December. It took almost 25 hours to complete. The edges of the canvas are painted black.
Blue Vision was in a juried exhibition at the Oil Pastel Society.
