About Solare

Solare is a fantasy oil pastel painting on gallery wrap stretched canvas. The subject is a woman with long flowing hair and wrapped in green vines. With her is a burning red-hot sun. The word "solare" comes from the term "erythema solare" which refers to sunburn.

I started and completed it in February 2006 after about 20 hours of painting. The edges of the canvas are painted black.

Solare has been on display at the Shaw Conference Centre.
