What is a limited edition print?

A Limited Edition Print is a Fine Art Print or reproduction that is produced in a fixed and relatively small quantity. The edition size or number of reproductions is guaranteed by Art by Anima. No further editions of the image as a Giclee print on canvas will be released. Art by Anima reserves the right to use the image for marketing purposes including catalogs, greeting cards and post cards.

Limited Edition Prints are numbered and signed by me, Anima. Each one comes with a Certificate of Authenticity which is also signed by me.

What is a Giclee print?

The term Giclee is French for "little squirt". Giclee is a form of large format inkjet printing. This process has been widely adopted for fine art printing. The Limited Edition Giclee Print is highly valued for its quality and relative rarity.

All of Art by Anima's Giclees are printed on canvas material. This gives you the option for either stretch or flat framing. Canvas is the preferred surface for quality and maximum colour definition.

What is a signed open edition print?

Signed open edition prints are printed on 100lb Cougar glossy archival paper with archival inks. Each print is signed by me, the artist.

What does an open edition mean?

When an edition size is left open, the total number of reproductions is not set.

What is a Certificate of Authenticity?

A certificate of Authenticity (COA) is a warranty card or statement verifying that the print is part of a limited edition. The certificate is signed by the artist and embossed by Art by Anima. The document includes the name and number of the print, the edition size of the print and details about materials and tools used to create the print. Is is very important to always keep the COA with the print especially if the print is sold or given as a gift.

What is the border around my Giclee print for?

Prints are not sold framed allowing you to choose a frame according to your personal taste and style. A 3" border is added to all prints to allow for framing.

Where do you get your ideas from?

I get ideas from different things I see and hear. Anything that I find beautiful and striking to look at will stir up my imagination - the sky, a flower, a tree, a dress. Sometimes it's a poetic phase that I read or hear.

How long does it take you to complete a painting?

It can take between 20 to 100 hours to produce a painting depending on the size and complexity of the subject and composition.

Why do you choose to work in oil pastels?

Oil pastels are my favorite medium because they are so tactile and sensual to use. Some people have described it like painting with lipstick. Oil pastels have vibrant, intense colour and the immediacy they provide is especially satisfying to me.
